To enhance the protection of individuals’ personal data, Ministry of the Interior Joins the Global CAPE

  To enhance the protection of individuals’ personal data, 16 domestic Privacy Enforcement Authorities( PEAs), namely the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the Justice etc, received the approval of the application from the administrator of the “Global Cooperation Arrangement for Privacy Enforcement(Global CAPE)” in March, 2024. In the future, enhanced cross-border cooperation in the enforcement of Data Protection and Privacy Laws between jurisdictions and international partners can be expected to effectively combat illegally personal data infringement.
  The Ministry of the Interior indicated that, as the global trend of digitalization continues to accelerate, demand for cross-border data transmission has increased sharply. Personal data infringement incidents often involve overseas factors, requiring mutual assistance and cooperation between jurisdictions and international partners can be expected to effectively combat illegal activities and prevent the worsening of infringement. So far, several other jurisdictions, including the United States, Japan, Canada, the Unites Kingdom, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Mexico, Dubai international Financial Center, and Bermuda, have also joined Global CAPE. In the future, collaboration will enhance the protection of information privacy, the enforcement of Data Protection and Privacy Laws between jurisdictions and professional information.
  The Ministry of the Interior indicated that, align with the international legal standards and enhance the protection of information privacy, fostering cross-border digital trade and boosting Taiwan’ s digital economy will be continuously.
